The client requested a complete overhaul to transform the sloping site into a clean, modern, multi-tiered garden with smooth transitions between zones. Key priorities included installing high-quality grey porcelain paving, creating safe porcelain-clad steps, laying low-maintenance artificial grass across flat tiers, and introducing timber railway sleeper beds to add warmth and planting depth.

We began by clearing the old paving, loose earth, and overgrown lawn, regrading the slope into three distinct, level terraces. Concrete foundations and blockwork retaining structures were installed to secure each level safely.

Grey porcelain paving was laid on a full mortar bed across the main lower patio, upper terrace, and steps. Each riser and retaining wall face was tiled in matching porcelain for a seamless visual flow. Integrated channel drainage was set discreetly into the patio edges to handle rainwater runoff effectively.

On the mid and upper tiers, we installed high-density artificial grass over a compacted aggregate base and weed membrane, delivering a vibrant green lawn that remains immaculate year-round without mowing. To complete the top level, raised timber railway sleeper beds were constructed to provide elevated planting space along the rear boundary.
