    GATE INSTALLATION IN WICKFORD

A Gate That Fits and Works Properly

Garden gate installation is the process of fitting a new gate within a residential fence line or as a defined garden-access point. A properly installed gate has secure posts, suitable hinges, a working latch and enough clearance to open and close without dragging.

We install garden gates for side access, rear garden access and integration with new or existing fencing. The gate is built or selected to suit the opening width, and the posts are set in concrete so the gate does not sag over time.

On a free site visit we measure the opening, assess the ground and talk through the options — timber or composite, gate width, hinge and latch choices. We then provide a clear written quotation.

    WHAT GATE INSTALLATION INVOLVES

What Does Garden Gate Installation Include?

Garden gate installation includes setting gate posts in concrete at the correct depth, fitting hinges to the post and gate, installing a latch or lock, and ensuring the gate opens and closes cleanly with the right ground clearance. The gate must be aligned so it does not drag or swing open on its own.

The installation also includes measuring the opening width, selecting or building a gate to fit, and integrating the gate with the surrounding fencing. Where the gate is part of a new fence line, the gate posts are installed at the same time as the fence posts.

Gate width, ground clearance and hinge type all matter. A gate that is too wide for the opening will not fit. A gate with insufficient ground clearance will drag. Our installation takes these factors into account so the gate works properly from day one.

    SUITABILITY

When Garden Gate Installation Is a Good Choice

Side passages between front and rear gardens needing secure access
Rear garden boundaries where a gate is integrated into the fence line
Gardens being re-fenced where the old gate no longer fits or works
Properties where a wider gate is needed for wheelbarrow or equipment access
Fence lines where a matching gate completes the boundary
Gardens where a gate is needed to separate different areas within the property

    FENCING OPTIONS

    Garden Gate Options

There are choices for garden gates. The right gate depends on the opening, the fencing and how the gate will be used.

    Timber Gates

Pressure-treated timber gates in various designs, matched to timber fencing.

    Bespoke Gates

Made-to-measure gates built to suit non-standard openings or specific requirements.

    Gate Widths

Gates in different widths to suit the opening, from narrow side access to wider garden gates.

    Hinges and Latches

A range of hinge and latch options, from simple latches to more secure locking mechanisms.

    Concrete Gate Posts

Concrete gate posts for heavier gates or where rot resistance is important.

    Fencing Integration

Gates integrated into closeboard, panel or composite fence lines.

    THE PROCESS

    Our Garden Gate Installation Process

Gate installation timing depends on the opening, ground conditions, whether new posts are needed, and the weather. Most gate installations are completed within a day. We confirm a realistic schedule before booking.

    1. 1Discuss the access requirement, opening width and what you want the gate to achieve
    2. 2Measure the opening and assess the ground and clearance
    3. 3Confirm the gate specification — material, width, hinges and latch
    4. 4Provide a written quotation covering the agreed work and materials
    5. 5Remove existing gate or fencing where included in the quotation
    6. 6Set gate posts in concrete at the correct depth and spacing
    7. 7Hang the gate on suitable hinges, checking alignment and swing
    8. 8Fit the latch or lock mechanism
    9. 9Check ground clearance, alignment and operation
    10. 10Leave the working area tidy

    QUOTATION FACTORS

What Affects the Cost of Garden Gate Installation?

We do not provide fixed prices without seeing the opening. The written quotation is based on the work involved, and several factors influence the final figure.

    Gate width and height
Timber, composite or bespoke gate construction
New gate posts or integration with existing posts
    Concrete or timber gate posts
    Hinge and latch specification
    Ground conditions and clearance
Removal of existing gate or fencing where included
    Integration with surrounding fencing

The written quotation will explain the agreed work, materials and preparation so you know exactly what is included before the installation begins.
