    FENCE REPLACEMENT IN WICKFORD

Out with the Old, In with the New

Full fence replacement is the complete process of removing an existing fence line and installing a new fencing system in its place. It includes taking down the old fencing, disposing of the materials, and putting up new posts, gravel boards, boards or panels.

We carry out full fence replacement for residential gardens across Wickford and South Essex. The old fencing is removed and disposed of as part of the quotation — you do not need to arrange separate waste clearance. The new fencing is then installed from the ground up.

On a free site visit we assess the existing fence, the boundary and the ground, talk through the replacement options and provide a clear written quotation covering removal, disposal and installation.

    WHAT REPLACEMENT INVOLVES

What Does Full Fence Replacement Include?

Full fence replacement includes three stages. First, the existing fencing is taken down — panels, boards, rails and posts are removed. Second, the old materials are loaded and disposed of from the site. Third, the new fencing system is installed from the ground up.

The new installation follows the same process as a new fence: posts set in concrete at the correct depth, gravel boards fitted at the base, and boards or panels fixed to the rails or posts. Where the ground has changed or the old posts have left holes, the boundary is prepared properly before the new posts go in.

Removal and disposal of the old fencing are normally included within the agreed quotation. This means the full project — from taking down the old fence to leaving the new one in place — is covered in one quote.

    SUITABILITY

When Full Fence Replacement Is a Good Choice

When the existing fence has reached the end of its life and repair is not worthwhile
When the boundary has a mix of old panels, posts and patched repairs that look inconsistent
When the existing fence no longer provides adequate privacy
When you want to upgrade from timber panels to closeboard or composite fencing
When the old posts have rotted or shifted and the fence is no longer secure
When you want the entire boundary replaced in one project with one quotation

    FENCING OPTIONS

    Replacement Fencing Options

When replacing a fence, there are genuine choices for the new system. The right combination depends on the boundary, the ground and your preferences.

    Closeboard Built on Site

Feather-edge boards fixed individually to rails, following the boundary and adjusting to ground levels.

    Timber Panels

Ready-made timber panels between posts for straight, level boundaries.

    Concrete Posts

Concrete posts that will not rot at ground level, a sensible upgrade when replacing rotted timber posts.

    Concrete Gravel Boards

Concrete gravel boards that will not decay, providing a solid base for the new fencing.

    Composite Fencing

Modern composite fencing systems as a low-maintenance replacement for timber.

    Gates

New gates integrated into the replacement fence line where needed.

    THE PROCESS

    Our Full Fence Replacement Process

Replacement timing depends on boundary length, the amount of existing fencing to remove, access, ground conditions, the chosen material and post system, and the weather. We confirm a realistic schedule before booking.

    1. 1Discuss the boundary, access and what you want the new fencing to achieve
    2. 2Inspect the existing fence, garden, ground conditions and any changes in level
    3. 3Confirm the replacement fencing specification — posts, panels or boards, gravel boards
    4. 4Provide a written quotation covering removal, disposal and installation
    5. 5Remove the existing fencing — panels, boards, rails and posts
    6. 6Remove and dispose of all old fencing materials from the site
    7. 7Prepare the boundary, including clearing old post holes and debris
    8. 8Set out the boundary line and install new posts securely in concrete
    9. 9Install gravel boards and horizontal rails
    10. 10Fit feather-edge boards or timber panels to the posts and rails
    11. 11Install gates and ironmongery where included
    12. 12Check alignment, levels and finish, then leave the area tidy

    QUOTATION FACTORS

What Affects the Cost of Full Fence Replacement?

We do not provide fixed prices without seeing the boundary. The written quotation is based on the work involved, and several factors influence the final figure.

Length and height of the boundary to be replaced
Amount and type of existing fencing to remove and dispose of
Closeboard built on site, timber panels or composite fencing
    Timber or concrete posts
    Timber or concrete gravel boards
Ground conditions and any changes in level along the run
Access to the boundary for removal and installation
Gates integrated into the replacement fence line

The written quotation will explain the agreed work, materials, removal, disposal and preparation so you know exactly what is included before the replacement begins.
