    BESPOKE FENCING IN WICKFORD

Fencing Built Around Your Garden, Not Off the Shelf

Custom fence construction — or bespoke, made-to-measure fencing as we usually call it — is fencing designed and built around the specific shape of your garden. Where a standard panel fence struggles with a curved boundary, a change in level or an awkward angle, bespoke fencing is constructed on site to follow the line exactly.

We build made-to-measure fencing using feather-edge timber boards, horizontal rails and secure posts, so the fence conforms to the boundary rather than forcing the garden to fit a fixed panel size. This gives a continuous, private boundary with no gaps, regardless of the ground.

Whether your garden is flat, sloping, stepped or irregular, bespoke fence construction produces a boundary that sits well and looks intentional. On a free site visit we assess the garden, talk through the options and provide a clear written quotation.

    WHAT BESPOKE FENCING MEANS

    What Is Custom Fence Construction?

Custom fence construction means fencing that is made to measure for your specific boundary. Rather than buying pre-made panels of a fixed size, the fencing is built on site — boards are cut and fixed individually to rails, so the fence follows the exact line of the garden.

This approach differs from panel fencing in two ways. First, the fence adapts to sloping or uneven ground without stepping or gaps. Second, the construction is continuous — there are no panel joints to weaken over time. Each board is fixed directly to the rails, giving a stronger, more private boundary.

Bespoke fencing is suitable for timber closeboard construction, and can be paired with timber or concrete posts and timber or concrete gravel boards depending on the ground and your preferences.

    SUITABILITY

When Bespoke Fence Construction Is a Good Choice

Gardens with curved, irregular or non-straight boundary lines
Boundaries with changes in level, slopes or steps
Properties where standard panel sizes leave gaps or require cutting
Gardens where a continuous, gap-free boundary is important for privacy
Homeowners who want the fence to follow the garden rather than the garden adapting to the fence
Replacement of an older boundary that was originally built to a non-standard line

    FENCING OPTIONS

    Bespoke Fencing Options

Made-to-measure fencing can be configured in several ways. The right combination depends on the boundary shape, ground conditions and how the garden is used.

    Timber Posts

Pressure-treated timber posts set in concrete, matched to the feather-edge boards for a consistent timber appearance along the run.

    Concrete Posts

Concrete posts that will not rot at ground level, suited to boundaries exposed to damp ground or where a longer-lasting post is preferred.

    Timber Gravel Boards

Timber gravel boards keep the feather-edge boards clear of soil and reduce moisture contact at the base of the fence.

    Concrete Gravel Boards

Concrete gravel boards that will not decay, providing a solid, long-lasting base for the fencing above.

    Built on Site

Boards fixed individually to rails on site, allowing the fence to follow curves, slopes and angles without gaps or stepping.

    Gate Integration

Bespoke gates can be built into the fence line to match the construction, suited to non-standard openings.

    THE PROCESS

    Our Bespoke Fence Construction Process

Installation timing depends on boundary length, access, ground conditions, existing fencing, the chosen post and gravel-board system, and the weather. We confirm a realistic schedule before booking.

    1. 1Discuss the boundary shape, access and what you want the fencing to achieve
    2. 2Assess the garden, ground levels and any changes in level along the boundary
    3. 3Confirm the suitable construction method, materials and post system
    4. 4Provide a written quotation covering the agreed work and materials
    5. 5Remove existing fencing where included in the quotation
    6. 6Remove and dispose of old fencing materials from the site
    7. 7Set out the boundary line, following curves and changes in level
    8. 8Install posts securely at the correct depth in concrete
    9. 9Install gravel boards and horizontal rails to follow the boundary
    10. 10Cut and fit feather-edge boards individually to the rails
    11. 11Check alignment, levels and finish across the full run
    12. 12Leave the working area tidy and clear of waste

    QUOTATION FACTORS

What Affects the Cost of Custom Fence Construction?

We do not provide fixed prices without seeing the boundary. The written quotation is based on the work involved, and several factors influence the final figure.

Length and height of the boundary to be fenced
Complexity of the boundary line — curves, angles and changes in level
    Timber or concrete posts
    Timber or concrete gravel boards
Ground conditions and access for materials and equipment
Removal of existing fencing and waste disposal
Bespoke gate construction integrated into the fence line
Material specification and timber grade selected

The written quotation will explain the agreed work, materials and preparation so you know exactly what is included before the installation begins.
